We offer regular drop‑in classes in meditation and Buddhism.
You’re welcome to simply show up on a Saturday or Thursday morning or a Wednesday evening and take part at your own pace.
These sessions introduce meditation as a practical training in awareness and kindness, along with core Buddhist teachings that help us meet everyday life with greater clarity, empathy and resilience.
The Saturday morning begins at 10am with a guided meditation session, during which you'll learn how to work with your mind effectively to cultivate clarity and kindness.
We alternate between two foundational practices: the Mindfulness of Breathing, which uses the breath as an anchor for presence, and the Metta Bhavana, in which we cultivate an attitude of well-wishing and friendliness to all beings.
From 11am to 11:30am, there is an informal tea break. This is an opportunity to socialise, but you're also welcome to sit on in the shrine room if you'd rather do that.
From 11:30am to 12:30pm, there is an accessible introduction to the Buddha’s teachings and how to put them into practice.
Personal sharing is always optional, and many people come simply to practise meditation.
You are welcome to attend either or both parts.
The Thursday morning follows the same structure as the Saturday class, but begins at 11am and finishes at 1pm. This session is offered for those who find it difficult to attend on weekends or in the evenings.
If you find daytimes difficult to attend, come and join us for our regular Wednesday evening Sangha Night, where we now offer a separate introduction to meditation drop-in class from 7pm to 8pm.
You are welcome to stay after the session for the social space and/or join the main sangha for the evening topic.
There is no need to book for any of our drop-in classes. We offer them free of charge. Donations towards the centre’s upkeep are welcome but not expected.
If you're visiting for the first time, you can learn more about what to expect.
